Training for a race is a great way to increase your mileage and beat your personal record. Luckily, in San Antonio there are several races to help you achieve your goals!
Texas Hill Country Series is a collection of four races running from January through April, helping to fulfill your resolutions by racing through winter and into spring. The first race of the series, the River Road Run, starts tomorrow, January 5, 2019. River Road is well-known for its picturesque scenery. The race begins at Canyon Lake then takes runners to River Road, where you will pass right over the river. The course is an out-and-back route and has one hill at the start.
All races in the series include a 5k, 10k or half marathon option, and end with a party! Adult beverages, food, and bands make this post-race after party slogan, “Come for the race, stay for the Party“!
South Texas Endurance Race is designed to test your physical and mental endurance. Taking place on January 5th, 2019 – 8 am at the beautiful Southside Lions Park Loop. Run or walk as many laps as possible during your time limit – each lap is one mile. This will be a chip timed event and laps will be tracked on a monitor. You won’t have to worry about keeping track since your individual results will be provided.
This race is designed to take place after the San Antonio Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon; meaning you’ll be in peak race shape to test your speed!
Cocoa Half Marathon originally a women’s only run, Cocoa is now co-ed and offers 5k, 10k or 1-mile family race options. Taking place on January 20, 2019, at 7 am, this race has quickly become a cult favorite offering a quaint urban San Antonio course and decadent race swag.
After your run, we’ll have hot, fresh pancakes straight off the griddle from the world famous Magnolia Pancake Haus and other food with the taste and flavor of San Antonio, along with fresh fruit and plenty of chocolate.
IDEA Public Schools 5k & Healthy Living Expo is a family-friendly event created to engage students and families in a fun, educational opportunity to be active. Bring the whole family to Lady Bird Johnson Park on January 26 at 9 am and get fit together. IDEA Public Schools is a network of tuition-free, Pre-K-12 public charter schools, serving more than 45,000 college-bound students in 79 schools across four Texas regions and Southern Louisiana and is on track to maintain its legacy of sending 100% of its graduates to college.
Snowball Run 5K and Accessible 1K this run/walk allows participants to burn off some of those holiday calories while benefiting an amazing cause. 100 percent of the proceeds from the event will go to purchase special needs adaptive equipment. The course will start and end inside Morgan’s Wonderland. Plan to come and celebrate all abilities on January 26 at 9 am with
Lone Star Tower CF Climb & Run is a challenging and unique fitness event where participants climb 952 steps, 75 floors up the Tower of the Americas in a test of endurance. Join the challenge on January 26 at 7 am starting at the Tower of the Americas.
Whether climbing to improve timing or to simply cross the finish line, this event is a great way to spend the day with co-workers, friends, and family while “Adding Tomorrows” for people with cystic fibrosis. At the end of the climb, participants celebrate at a survival party with delicious food and great entertainment.
