What exactly is Opposite Day? While no one really knows its origin, it falls on January 25th, exactly one month after Christmas, and it is exactly what we need to banish the post-holiday blues. This year New Balance San Antonio is breaking free from the winter rut and spreading silliness in celebration of National Opposite Day!
These are our favorite ideas for celebrating Opposite Day with your co-workers, friends, and family:
Get Social – Post a fun photo of you doing the opposite of what you mean and use #NationalOppositeDay to post on social media. We’d love to see what you come up with! Tag us at nb_sanantonio
Breakfast for Dinner – Pancakes, bacon, and eggs are the clear choice for dinner on opposite day. Even better would be dessert before dinner. Try this Opposite Day approved frozen hot chocolate recipe!
Engage in Silly Conversation – Set the tone for the party by creating a set of “rules” to follow that will make for seriously silly answers and hilarious conversations!
- Say “Goodbye” when greeting people instead of “Hello”
- Say “Yes” when you mean “No”
- Use Last names in place of First names
Be sure to tell your friends, coworkers, and family that you are celebrating this holiday – or things can get really weird really fast!
Try Eating with Your Non-Dominant Hand – This is incredibly challenging and will require slowing down. Eating with your non-dominant hand regularly has the added benefit of being wonderful for your brain and helps to find new appreciation in everyday tasks.
Dress in Festive Attire – There are so many options to choose from here!
- Wear your clothes backward; (Kriss-Kross anyone?)
- Put your shirt on inside-out
- Wear different style shoes on each of your feet (business vs. sneaker)
- Keep it simple with opposite socks
In need of funky attire? Stop by New Balance San Antonio at The Strand, The Forum, and Quarry Village and say “Goodbye” in the spirit of Opposite Day!
